Tonight's Homework and Rock Tour News

Homework for Wednesday, December 16:
  • Language arts: Read at Home; Write for 10 Minutes; Reading assignment for Mrs. Bronoel's book club is due Friday
  • Math: Mrs. Giroux's and Mrs. Bronoel's class need to complete the blue multiplication worksheet
  • Science: Finish volcano sheet, if necessary
  • Spanish: Do homework

A few important notes about Rock Tour were sent home today. One is an invitation to a parent night in early January. We need parents to help plan activities for our Rock Tour presentation night on February 10th.

Also, a note was sent home announcing the family project assignment. All students are being asked to complete a project with their family that connects to the theme of rocks. Families are encouraged to choose a project that matches their interests and talents.

A note was sent home on Monday about the books students will be reading in conjunction with our Rock Tour. All fourth graders will read a book about the 1906 San Francisco earthquake. We are asking for donations of $4.00 per student to cover the cost of the books. Students will keep the books at the end of the reading unit. Thank you to the families who have already sent in money!

Tomorrow the students will begin MEAP testing. As should be the case everyday, please make sure your child is present and well-rested. Encourage your child to eat a good breakfast. Students will be testing in the morning and afternoon this Tuesday and in the morning on Thursday. Testing will continue next Tuesday and Thursday.

On Wednesday from 6:30-7:15 p.m. the 4th grade teachers are hosting a "Parent Support Night" in the Rogers Media Center. At the meeting we will explain the math algorithms used in fourth grade and discuss homework success strategies. We encourage all parents to attend.

This Friday is our field trip to the Rock, Gem, and Mineral show. Mrs. Seidl's class is in need of parent volunteers. Please let us know as soon as possible if you can chaperone. We'll leave at approximately 8:15 a.m. and return to school around 12:30.

Tonight's Homework and Beginning of the Year Update

Homework for Monday, September 14th:
  • Language Arts- R.A.H. (Read at Home) assignment for September sent home. Students should be reading for at least 15 minutes a night, at least five nights per week.

We really enjoyed meeting everyone at Curriculum Night last week. If you haven't already filled out the questionnaire about your child please do so as soon as possible.

The first week of school went very well. The 4th graders are doing a fantastic job following the new Rogers hallway procedures. We've started science, social studies, reading and math and will begin writer's workshop tomorrow. It's going to be a great year!
